Do I Look Parisian Yet?

Recently, my style icon is Jeanne Damas (look out for a post about her style - I'm obsessed!). Her outfits are effortless and always impeccable. I tried to channel my inner French girl by wearing stripes and sticking to the basics - denim.

Christmas

So... it was almost 70 degrees today in the New York area, complete opposite of a white Christmas. This gave me the opportunity to avoid tights and pretend it was still early fall. I still wanted to be festive though, so of course I picked this red dress. I love how bohemian it is while being slightly tailored. I threw on a pair of sneakers to stay casual. All that I was missing was red lip stick - but I left that at my Boston apartment (sad Lauren).

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Cool Brand Spotting: Sézane

I become so tired of shopping at the same stores. I have my go to stores and then some days I will put together an outfit and realize that I am wearing clothes from only one brand (which means I have to change before I leave my apartment) or I'll run into someone wearing the same sweater or dress because college students tend to shop in similar circles.

I try to look out for new brands that are exciting and unique. When I stumbled upon Sézane, an online Parisian boutique, I was thrilled. I am always looking for ways to embrace my inner Parisian. The best part about Sézane is that it is affordable. The brand is classic, the pieces are very simple but quite beautiful. Here are some of my favorite items from the website.

The Brigitte Jumper - $81
This is my favorite item! It is a reversible sweater. It comes in multiple colors. I am absolutely obsessed.

_Claude Messenger Bag - $176.59
This bag though. Ugh, so perfect. It looks like something Chloé might design but is affordable. The purse comes in so many colors. It looks well-made and elegant. It is also so versatile - throw it on with a pair of boyfriend jeans and sneakers or pair it with a leather jacket and cocktail dress.

                                                             The California Dress - $117.73
Although the dress is named after an American state, I immediately associate this with Parisian style. It is simple and classic. The dress is effortless.

The Perfect Pair

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a pair of leather pants. The problem is that I wanted vegan leather (because I am not ready to invest in a pair of real leather) and it is hard to find faux-leather that looks well-made and flattering. Finally after searching, I walked into my local Free People and found these. I love them because they are not constricting, are slightly cropped, and are incredibly flattering. These might turn into my most worn pant of the winter because they go with everything!! Dress them down with sneakers or up with heals and a fancy top.

Casual Monday

Jeans, thigh-highs, and a loose, off-the-shoulder top - I live for this kind of outfit. They are chic but still incredibly comfy and look effortless.
Boston is still warm, so I am enjoying these days before I have to start bundling. Before I was aware of just how warm it was, I put on my teddy coat which I l'm obsessed with because it makes me feel like a little sheep (and sheep always look so warm and cozy in the winter).
Top- Nasty Gal
Boots- Topshop
Coat- Topshop (old purchase)

The Shearling Jacket

One of my current obsessions. I love how cozy and warm this oversized coat looks. The best part                                   about the coat is that it classic and will never go out of style.

60/70's Vibe

I love the bell-sleeves and fun colors of the 60's and 70's. When I was browsing ASOS, I saw this dress and had to have it. It is a modern spin on the classic 70's dress. I didn't get very creative with this look because I was home for Thanksgiving and had packed lightly- but a leather jacket and black boots complete all outfits.

Simply Grey

Sometimes I wake up and just want to wrap myself in a blanket and stay in bed. These sweater dresses are the second best thing. Wearing this dress, I felt like I was going to class in a cozy blanket. I love how loose the dress is and its lack of shape. It is such an effortless look with a pair of sneakers.
It is important to accessorize this kind of outfit with a few layered necklaces or earrings, it helps create a put together look.

Fall in the Park

Nothing is better than strolling through the park on a Saturday as the leaves slowly fall from the trees. I had to take advantage of the scenary and get a few pictures of my outfit. This is a laid back weekend look. I was all over the place Saturday - getting coffee, running errands, and walking around Boston from Beacon Hill to Back Bay. This outfit was perfect because I was cozy and comfortable the whole day. I love these sweater coats - not too heavy but just enough to bundle into when the wind strikes.

The Affordable Slingback

This is everyone's new favorite shoe and with good reason. The slingback is comfortable, elegant, and goes with everything. Unfortunately, it is not easy to splurge $800 on a pair of shoes, that is why I was so excited when I stumbled upon this pair that is only $140 from Jeffrey Campbell. Jeffrey's are great because they are well made, durable, and comfortable. They might not be Chanel but they are the next best thing. (Definitely will be going on my Christmas list!)
Below are some of my favorite looks featuring the classic Chanel Slingback.
